Admiral Pest’s newest service – Thermal Acoustical Pest Control (TAP), is successfully underway – only months after the official launch, according to Brian Jones, president of Admiral Pest Control.
“We have completed about 20 TAP jobs so far and everyone has been really pleased,” said Brian Jones, president of Admiral. “Most people say it makes the house quieter and they are saving money every month on their energy bills.”
TAP is made from recycled newspaper and contains the EPA registered pesticide boric acid – an ingredient found in other household products like, saline eyewash solution, detergents and the foods we eat. Most household bugs such as silverfish, termites, cockroaches that encounter it are repelled or die after ingesting it but the EPA considers boric acid safe for use around humans and pets.
TAP not only helps keep the temperature more even in the homes, but is the only Energy Star approved insulation that repels pests and is proven to lower most energy bills by 32 percent.
Many homes in southern California have little to no insulation. This leads to higher energy bills than necessary. Most homeowners have never given a second thought to adding insulation to their homes all while money is literally escaping out their attics whenever the heat or air conditioning is on.
“I put it in my house and my gas bill dropped $35 and the SCE (Southern California Edison) bill dropped $29 the first month,” Jones said. “The savings will be huge during the summer months.”
TAP insulation helps keep homeowners cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It also reduces outside noises – all while controlling pests such as termites, ants, silverfish and roaches.
“I’m really pleased with how much we have learned about installing TAP,” Jones said. “I feel like we are off to a great start with this new service. We are looking forward to helping others reduce their energy bills while protecting their homes against pests.”
TAP is sprayed into homes’ attics and is permanent. Unlike the typical roll-in pink fiberglass insulation, TAP forms a perfect fit, leaving no gaps, covering nooks and crannies, capping the entire attic floor.
“TAP is something that has been exciting for us to provide,” Jones said. “We know people are going to see a big difference with this in their homes. I love how much quieter my home is all while knowing that bugs are being repelled.”
The cost for the insulation through Admiral ranges from $1.20 to $1.50 per square foot, depending on the thickness customers desire.
